Our beloved and precious Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather Amadeo “Ray” Garcia peacefully went to be with our dear Lord on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Ray was a gentle, kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was known for his sweet and caring disposition.
Ray went into the armed forced and served his country in the Korean War, where after 4 years he returned home to marry the Love of his life Josie. They celebrated 68 years of marriage before she went to be with our dear Lord in 2021.
Ray was known for his wonderful work ethic; he retired from Ace Hardware after 20 years in sales and retired from the Forest Service. Ray was a talented woodcarver, furniture maker and carpet layer. After retirement Ray and Josie enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom they adored and loved dearly. Ray and Josie enjoyed traveling all over the world and enjoyed every moment in life, they enjoyed a beautiful life together.
Ray is preceded in death by his beloved wife Josie, son Lawrence, daughter Marie and son in law Ernest Gomez.
Ray is survived by his daughters Jeannette (Ray) Rael and Nancy Gomez. Grandchildren – Raelynn Rael (Isaac), Valerie (Eloy) Montoya, Brandon Rael (Katrina), Michael Gomez. Great-Grandchildren – Mateo and Brianah Montoya and his beloved Shih-Tzu-Molly who he loved to call Molly Geeson.
The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words of sympathy, phone calls, food, cards and monetary gifts.
Special thanks to Red Willow Hospice for the wonderful care they provided during the last few months. As well as a very special thank you to Anita Martinez for being so kind and compassionate to our loved one.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday April 24, 2025 at 11am in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. The burial will be on Friday April 25, 2025 at 2:30pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
