Angelica Pacheco

Angelica Maria (Martinez) Pacheco, age 92, passed away at home on April 22, 2026. She was born on October 20, 1933, in Taos, New Mexico.

Known for her beauty and lovely auburn hair, Angelica was well read and proud of her Spanish heritage and culture. She enjoyed attending her children’s many activities and grandchildren’s sporting events, in and out of town.

Angelica began her teaching career in Ramah, New Mexico, followed by a long career at the Taos Day School at Taos Pueblo. She taught all subjects, specialized in language arts, and enjoyed directing the annual Christmas program at Taos Day School. She was a dedicated teacher for over 30 years.

Mrs. Pacheco was on the board of the Housing Commission, raised funds for the Holy Cross Hospital, and was very active in People for the West.

Angelica is survived by her children: Stephanie, Marguerite, Manuel (Rosemary), Pat (Leticia), and Juan (Natalie). She is also survived by her sister, Mary (Martinez) Estep and her grandchildren: Patrick, Manuel, Katarina, Nicolette, Danielle, Angelica, Annalise, Jacob, and 7 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Rudy Pacheco, her mother, Margarita (Olivas) Martinez, her father, Esquipula Martinez, and her sister, Teresina Martinez.

On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, a 9 AM Rosary and 10 AM Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Taos, New Mexico, followed by interment at Sierra Vista Cemetery in Taos, New Mexico.
