Brian Ortega 42, a lifelong resident of Upper Llano de San Juan, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 22, 2024.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Rudolfo & Felonis Ortega; and his lifelong friend Daniel Martinez.
Brian is survived by his parents Gilbert & Mary Ortega, of Llano de San Juan; his pride and joy, his son Jonathan Simbolo; mother of his son, Gwen Simbolo and her son Dominic Simbolo of Picuris Pueblo; his sister Loretta Rodarte (Steve) of Llano de San Juan; nieces Lesea Rodarte and Stephanie (Jesus); great-nieces and nephews Aaliyah & Gabriel Rodarte and Izzayah & Natalyah Pena; along wit many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Brian was very creative and artistic; he was very proud of the work he did and all his incredible creations. From woodwork, welding and painting, he did it all. He was always willing to lend a hand when needed; rain, snow, or shine, you could count on him to get it done. He lived life to the fullest and always had a smile on his face. He loved his Raiders and was a devoted fan. Brian loved to sped time in his shop, if he was nowhere to be seen; that’s where you’d find him. Brian loved his music; if it wasn’t Northern New Mexico music, it was Los Tigeres del Norte.
Rosary will be recited on Friday July 5, 2024 at 6pm in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos.
