Candido "Candy" Mondragon

Candido “Candy” Mondragon, age 86 a resident of Ranchos De Taos, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2022.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Clorinda Mondragon; parents, Jose Olmedo and Hipalita Mondragon; siblings, Lilly Peck, Ernest Mondragon, Otilia “Tillie” Vigil, Margaret Blea, Steve Mondragon, and Arturo “Art” Mondragon.  Candy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  He worked for many years at the Questa Moly Corp and Phelps Dodge mine in Silver City which he retired from both.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors and being an excellent craftsman. He is survived by his children, Yolanda Villa (Randy), Richard Mondragon (Rolanda), Janice Schmitt (Bob), and Brenda Alubowicz (Brian); his grandchildren, Daniel Vigil (Alyssa), Nathan Mondragon, Matthew Mondragon, Catherine Mondragon, Aaron Schmitt, Austin Schmitt, Madison Alubowicz, Conner Alubowicz; and one great granddaughter, Eliana Vigil; plus one brother, Anthony Mondragon (Loretta); and many nieces, nephews, loving relatives, and cherished friends.

Rosary will be recited on Wednesday July 13, 2022 at 10:00am followed by the Funeral Mass 11:00am at San Francisco de Asis Catholic church.  Burial will be held on Thursday July 14, 2022 at 11:00am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
