Casilda "Casey" Lovato

Casilda (Casey) Lovato, a resident of Costilla NM, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026. She was born on July 26, 1934 to José and Antonia Arellano. She precedes her parents, husband Demetro Lovato, brother Eloy Arellano and sister Celia Santistavan.

She leaves behind her daughter Eyda (Randy), sons Lawrence (Veronica), Lonnie (Denise), Richard (Rhonda) and Randy (Rebecca). Nana also leaves 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Sister-in-laws Prescilla Rodriquez, Lillian Arellano and Geraldine Sotello and brother-in-law Jimmy Lovato and numerous nephews and nieces.

Casilda was an faithful servant for Our Lord by being an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Guadalupana’s, Society of Mt Carmel and the Friendship Circle. For 30 years she participated in the pilgrimage walks to the Santuario de Chimayo as her dedication to our Lady of Guadalupe.

She worked as a cook at the Costilla Elementary School for a few years and later transferred to the Questa High School Cafeteria and retired after a few years.

Casilda was always cooking, no one could leave her house without having something to eat. Her mission in life was to serve others.

Rosary will be recited on Wednesday February 11, 2026 at 7pm at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Costilla. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday February 12, 2026 at 10am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Costilla with burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
