Cecilia "Cicy" Romo

Cecilia (Cicy) Romo, 79, of Questa passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026. The ninth of ten children, she was born on September 24, 1946 to Samuel & Emilia Duran of Questa. She is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Pat Romo; her parents Samuel & Emilia Duran, her siblings Marcella Duran, Samuel Duran, Orlinda Garcia, Adonilo Duran, Arturo Duran, and Daniel Duran; her niece Rachel Joy Duran and nephews Gary Cisneros and Bonnie Garcia; sisters-in-law Eloise Duran, Virginia Miranda, and Fabiana Mondragon; brothers-in-law Robert Garcia, Ernie Cisneros, Carlos Romo, and Fabian Romo.

She is survived by her daughters Lisa Lovato, Lori Passino (Paul), and Kristi Verderaime(Dominic); her 18 grandchildren Paul Passino Jr., Larissa Passino, Kiana Huerta(Gabriel), Adriana Verderaime, Loryn Lovato, Kayliana Verderaime, Juliana Verderaime, Dominic Verderaime Jr., Joseph Verderaime, Mariana Verderaime, Jacob Verderaime, Samuel Verderaime, Giovanni Verderaime, Francesco Pio Verderaime, Leandro Verderaime, Rocco Verderaime, Georgiana Verderaime, and Graciana Verderaime; great-granddaughter Elena Huerta; siblings Anadella Cisneros, Maurice Duran(Dorothy), and Damian Duran; sisters-in-law Lorraine Duran and Vira Martinez(Jesse), brothers-in-law Vicente Romo(Georgia Lu), Victor Romo, and Mark Peter Romo, goddaughter Therese Padilla and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Cicy worked for over 40 years with the Questa Independent School District and will be remembered by many she knew during her employment there. She began working as a teacher's aide at Cerro Elementary and retired as the executive secretary at the QISD administrative office. She often spoke with great fondness of her time spent working at the schools and especially a fondness for her coworkers and friends she made along the way.

Dino Candelaria, Deacon Louis Herrera, and to all those who kept her in their prayers in her last days of life.

A rosary will be recited at St. Anthony's Parish in Questa on Wednesday, September 2nd at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday September, 3rd at 10:00 a.m. with internment to follow at the San Pedro Cemetery in Questa. The family would like you to join them for a meal at the Cerro VFW following the burial.

Pallbearers include grandson Paul Passino Jr. , grandson Dominic Verderaime Jr., grandson Joseph Verderaime, nephew Dale Garcia, nephew Jeffery Duran and grandnephew Miguel Rael. Honorary Pallbearers include nephews Brian Cisneros, Ruben Duran, and Maury Duran.
