Corine Valdez

Corine Valdez passed away on November 27, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on April 7, 1938.

Corine is preceded in death by her parents Andres and Eloisa Maestas; brothers Alex, Ralph, Manuel Jr, Ubaldo and Landy Maestas; sisters Guillerma Romero and Esther Santistevan; sisters-in-law Priscilla, Dorothy, Cecilia and Linda Maestas; brothers-in-law Joe Romero, Antonio Lopez and Roy Santistevan.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years Eugene Valdez; her sons Paul Valdez and Steve Valdez (Pam); siblings Bernie Maestas, Tommie Maestas, Manuel Maestas and Anastacio Maestas (Kathy); sister-in-law Josie Maestas; and many nieces, nephews and family.

Corine attended nursing school in Santa Fe. She worked at various hospitals and finally retired from the UNM Hospital after 50 years of nursing. Although Corine loved all her dogs, she had a special place in her heart for her beloved Chihuahua named “Pepita”.

Corine was a kind, loving, thoughtful and generous person. She was always ready to help with whatever she could. Always ready to give encouragement and advice. Corine was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend. She leaves behind many beautiful memories and will be greatly missed.

Rosary will be recited on Monday, December 15, 2025 at 9am followed by the funeral mass at 10am at San Francisco De Asis Catholic Church, with burial to follow at the Talpa Cemetery.
