Daniel "Danny" Frey

Daniel “Danny” Frey, age 63, a resident of Angel Fire, NM, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, in Santa Fe, NM.

He is preceded in death by his father, Harlan Frey of Arlington, Texas. He is survived by his son Justin (Michaela), daughter Toni (Alexy), his mother Linda, sisters Pam and Annette (Glenn), brother Terry (Jerri), nieces Christina, Katy, and Grace, nephews Nicholas (Emily), Michael, and Chad, grandnephews Harlan and Brooks, and granddaughters Liliana and Isla.

Danny grew up in Arlington, Texas, and began his career at Freese & Nichols as a CAD technician before branching out to become a custom home designer. His career eventually brought him to Angel Fire, NM, where he designed homes for many in the area, priding himself on turning their dream concepts into reality. His homes—deeply inspired by his experiences, his family, and the work of Frank Lloyd Wright—stand as lasting testaments to his artistry and craftsmanship.

He fell in love with the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, which he came to call home, and cherished long drives through the “Enchanted Circle” with his family, friends, and dogs—all while sharing his favorite music from the Beatles, the Moody Blues, and Rush. Danny was known for his kind and generous spirit—always ready to offer a place to stay, celebrate life’s milestones, or care deeply for his beloved dogs. His warmth touched many, and he gave his all to ensure the happiness of those around him.

A celebration of life will take place in the fall with more details to come soon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA or the Arthritis Foundation.
