David Rene Trujillo, Sr. passed away peacefully at the age of 71, surrounded by his loving family and friends at his home, after a courageous battle with a prolonged illness on January 24, 2026.

Born on November 12, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, he spent his formative years in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Rosemead, California. As a teenager, he relocated with his family to Taos, where he embraced his Native American and Spanish heritage, cherished his numerous relatives, and considered Taos his home for the remainder of his life.

David was widely recognized and beloved within the community for his amiable disposition and easygoing nature. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he served with distinction at Fort Carson, Colorado. Upon his return to Taos, he raised his children and cultivated friendships while working at Taos Motors as a Sales Representative, Smith’s as a member of their Management Team, and El Monte Sagrado as Security. Ultimately, he retired in 2018. David’s dedication to his work was evident in his meticulously maintained landscaped yard and his unwavering willingness to assist those in need with tasks such as repairing fences, landscaping, or any other endeavor.

David is preceded in death by his loving parents, Manuel Arturo Trujillo (Father) and Josephine Ida Flores-Trujillo (Mother); his brother Levi Trujillo, and his son Jon Isaac Trujillo.

David Trujillo is survived by his children: David Trujillo (Yvonne), Lesha “Tru” Trujillo and Randy Dominguez (step-son); grandchildren, Miranda Garcia (Dezmin) and (great-grandbaby Ailani), Isaiah Trujillo (Miranda), Isaac Trujillo (Lexi), Matthew Chavez, and Jon Dominguez; David is also survived by his siblings, Art Trujillo (Bonnie), Marta Wood (Allen), Veronica Hernandez (Rick), Edwina Jensen (Greg), and Donna Trujillo (Levi). He absolutely loved and adored his extended family and friends of Taos Pueblo, his best friends Lourdes Torrez and Floyd Ayala, good friends, Raul Vigil, Paul (Pudge) Martinez, Christine Romero and Barbara Tegtmeier and his special nephew, Manuel Trujillo III, all whom are also part of his legacy.

David Trujillo will always be remembered for his loving personality and as a beloved, fun-loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He was an active individual with numerous hobbies, including his exceptional artistic talents, landscaping skills, hunting, fishing, hiking, and he had a passion for riding his Harley, ATV’s, dancing, music, animals, exploring nature, and all of the beautiful creations of God.
