Devin J. Duran

Ranchos De Taos

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Devin Duran. He entered into eternal rest on July 31st 2026 at the age of 33.

Devin was preceded in death by his grandpas Mejirio Gurule, Manuel Morgas and Jose Duran; His grandma, Feloniz Duran; his Tio Manuel Duran and Tia Delma Gonzales and brother-in-law Marcos Valencia. He was also reunited with many special cousins who went before him and was blessed with a glorious reunion in heaven.

He is survived by his daughter Emmalee Duran and her mother Wilberta Esquibel. His parents, Philbert and Susan Carol Duran; Grandmother Lillian Gurule; Devin's many siblings include his brothers, Marcos Duran and Elijah Duran. Sisters are Sonya Duran-LeDoux (Nobert), Julie Duran (Derek), Marisol Duran (Izzy), Elisha Duran-Haupu (Kalei) and AnnaLiz Duran (Mariah). Devin was blessed with his nieces and nephews, Santino Suazo, Theresa Valencia, Ismael Wright, Judith Wright and Koa Haupo. He is also survived by his Godparents Jerry and Mary Sanchez. Devin also leaves behind a large loving family made up of plenty of aunts, uncles and cousins who were all very special to him.

Devin had a heart of Gold and always fiercely protected his family. He cherished family time and always made any gathering special with his unique presence of love, light and laughter. He loved spending time playing cards, playing games or gathering the crew to accomplish any task. Devin was a natural leader and inspiration to all and had the ability to make everyday tasks enjoyable by his simple demeanor.

He was born on October 31st, Halloween, and therefore became our forever pumpkin. All Hallows Eve in our faith is the vigil recognizing holy ones and preparing hearts for the feast of heaven and although our hearts are shattered with his loss, we know he is preparing our path and hearts to be with him again one day.

The pain we feel from his absence exists because the love was real and he deserves every tear, every memory and every moment our hearts search for him. All the love we still have for him has nowhere to go except into our memories, prayers and the quiet hope that one day, it will finally bring us back together.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Gutierrez, Reo Valencia, Nathaniel Sanchez, Isaiah Chacon, Isaiah Vigil, JoJo Duran, Pablo Martinez, Luis Aragon, Randy Morgas, Antonio Trujillo, Jacob White, Ernesto Duran and Oscar Escobar.

Rosary will be recited on Friday, August 14th at 6pm at the San Antonio de Padua Church in Peñasco and the funeral mass on Saturday, August 15th at 9 a.m. Devin will be laid to rest at the Pacheco y Gurule Cemetery with a meal in celebration of his life to follow at the Penasco Community Center.
