Dianne Elizabeth Slack

Dianne Elizabeth (DE) Slack passed away in the early morning hours of March 30, 2026 at Holy Cross Hospital in Taos, New Mexico after a brief illness.

Born on April 5, 1947, in Baltimore Maryland, DE was the only child of Leo and Harriet Slack, her mother English and her father American. Her childhood was spend in Saudi Arabia where her father worked for ARAMCO, the national oil company of that country. Eventually the family moved to Baltimore Ohio, where DE attended art school. An accomplished painter, she lived for many years in the Soho neighborhood of Manhattan, moving to Taos where she met her life companion Richard Shoji Ito, who survives her. A lifelong vegan and champion of animal sovereignty. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to any animal rescue organization.
