Dianne Elizabeth Slack

Dianne "De" Elizabeth Slack died in the early morning hours of March 30, 2026, at Holy Cross Hospital in Taos, NM, after a brief illness. 

Born on April 5, 1947, in Maryland, De was the only child of Leo and Harriet Slack. Her mother English and her father American. Her childhood was spent in Saudi Arabia, where her father worked for ARAMCO, the national oil company of that country. Eventually, the family moved to Baltimore, Maryland,  where De attended MICA college of arts.  An accomplished painter and listed in "New York City's book of who's who", she lived for many years in the Soho neighborhood of Manhattan, moving to Taos in 1995, where she met her life companion Richard who survives her. A lifelong vegan and animal rights champion, donations in her memory may be made to Stray Hearts or Spay Taos.
