Elizabeth Ann Plowman
b. November 23, 1949 - March 20, 2025
Potter, Gardener, Nurse, Beth was a force to behold to anyone that met her. She genuinely lived her moral code of respecting people and nature and anyone who knew her was acutely aware of this. The house that she built with her husband Peter Bonesteel and the surrounding gardens and land are a testament to their creativity, grit, and sense of aesthetic.
Beth was raised in Lodi, California to Warren and Kathryn Plowman and was the second of four daughters, Karen, Norma, and Barbera. She attended UC Berkeley and graduated with a degree in nursing from UC San Francisco following her father’s path of civic service. She soon learned that her true passion lay in clay and ceramics. She worked as potter working with the Denver Potter’s Guild for over a decade until she returned to nursing. She was a pediatric nurse for 25 years at Denver General Hospital and ended her career as a nurse operations manager. In nursing and ceramics, she made many lifelong friends with whom she traveled often and shared some of her dearest memories.
She and her husband Peter built themselves an adobe house in Taos, NM in 1991 where they spent their days tending the land, painting and potting. Beth’s penchant for exploration brought her family to many different corners of the world, backpacking, cycling, hiking and fishing.
Her husband Peter died in Taos in 2019. Beth is survived by her son Ian Bonesteel, sisters Karen and Norma, nephews Scott and Matt and niece Nicola, all of whom she cared for dearly.
Memorial Service for Beth and Peter will be held in Denver on July 19th, 2025.
