“Francisco” Francis Fabian Romero was born August 16, 1960. He passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026 at his home in Llano Quemado.

Francisco was preceded in death by his parents Jose de la luz and Maria Stella Romero, his son Nicholas Angelo Romero, and two brothers Jose Jr. and Clarence Romero. He is survived by his sisters Maria Penner (Carl), Julia Caffrey (Kevin), Delores Serio, and Yvonne Miranda. He is also survived by his brothers F.R. Bob Romero (Alice), Ray Romero (Darlene), and Orlando Romero, and a number of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

After graduating from high school Francis joined the Marines and served four years. He received his bachelor’s degree and teacher certification from New Mexico Highlands University and his master’s degree in education administration from Western New Mexico University. Francisco retired as a teacher having taught at Arroyos del Norte Elementary and Ranchos Elementary. He taught computer and art classes and is remembered for creating murals at both elementary schools and at Taos High School. He also planted trees and constructed a xeriscape garden at Ranchos Elementary. He was a creative artist and a builder, specializing in laying tile. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services are pending and will be announced at a later date.
