Gabriel "Grady" Quintana

Gabriel “Grady” Quintana, 61, of El Rito/Questa, New Mexico, passed away on January 2, 2026, surrounded by love. Gabe is the beloved son of Daniel and Evelyn Quintana. He is survived by his parents; his son, Amellio (Amy); his siblings, Karen (George), James (Stephanie), and Joyce (Albert); and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly. Gabe was a fun-loving, true free spirit-full of life and always ready for a good time with a beer in his hand. From an early age, Gabe learned the value of hard work. He would wake up early to feed the cows, share breakfast with Grampo and Gramma, then return home to eat breakfast again with his family. He took pride in everything he did and was always willing to help others, especially family. One of Gabe’s greatest passions was working as an equipment operator, a trade he truly loved and one he proudly shared with his son, Amellio. That shared love became a special bond between them and a source of pride for Gabe. In the winter months, he would sweep Tio Solomon’s pond so family could slide on the ice; those simple moments became treasured memories. He was an accomplished athlete, playing baseball as a youth and earning All-Star recognition, and later excelling in basketball and track and field, competing at the state level. Gabe loved riding his motorcycle and, in the winter, his snowmobile. He was a devoted fan of John Wayne. As a teenager, he also had a fond appreciation for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, something that always brought laughter. Above all else, Gabe loved his family. His proudest accomplishment was the birth of his son, Amellio, and when Amellio returned home to live in Questa, it marked one of the happiest times of his life. The birth of his granddaughter, Amayah, was another life-changing moment. She became his greatest joy and his inspiration during his hardest battles. For those who may not have known, Gabe loved God. He accepted Him in his heart, read his Bible daily, and held his faith close. Gabe was far from perfect, but he knew God and loved Him. Gabe will be remembered for his big heart, his laughter, and the way he made life a little more fun just by being in the room. His love, humor, and larger-than-life spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Service will be held on Friday January 9, 2026 at 2pm at Living Word Ministries in Questa.
