Gilbert Carlos Quinto, born October 30, 1936, died May 12, 2024, at the age of 87.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arcenio Quinto & Irene Romero Quinto; siblings Josephine Rivera (†Joe), Adelina Archuleta (†Ralph), Priscilla Hurtado (George), Phillip Quinto; and grand-nephew Matthew Rivera. Also preceded in death by close family members of his wife, Celestina Vigil (mother-in-law), Cimodosella Vigil (mother-in-law’s sister), and Josephine Vigil (wife’s sister).
Gilbert is survived by his wife Gloria (64 years of marriage); sister Cordy Nilmeier (Robert); children Bonavita Quinto-MacCallum (Tracy), David Quinto-Pozos (Manuel) and Carmela Quinto (Felipe); nephew Steve Vigil, and grandchildren Manuel Duran and Andreita Vargas (Louis).
Gilbert served in the U.S. Army from 1959-62 and retired from the U.S. Forest Service in 1994. He faithfully served his church community as a marriage program coordinator (with Gloria), and in many other roles. He was a loving, supportive, and committed husband and father, and a role model for many family members and friends.
Services include a rosary at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 16, 2024 and Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 10:00 am (both to be held at San Francisco de Asís Catholic church in Ranchos de Taos, NM). Interment will be on Monday, May 20th, 2024 at 9:00am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
