James Romero

d. January 27, 2026

Ranchos De Taos

James Michael Romero Sr. was born on December 15, 1981 in Pueblo, CO and moved to Taos at the age of 3. He passed away unexpectedly in his home in Ranchos de Taos at the age of 44 on January 27, 2026.

James was a loyal employee of Floyd’s Yard. He loved people regardless of their age, race, gender, or football team. James would always be there for his loved ones at the spur of a moment. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which allowed him to connect with so many people, which is why we always spent a minimum of 2 hours in the grocery store for a loaf of bread. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, automotive work, snowboarding, four wheeling, the broncos, and bringing his wildest ideas of life.

He is preceded in death by his grandma Lupie Griego, grandma Celina Gallegos, and grandpa Alfredo Romero, uncle Mike, aunt Eva, aunt Frances Romero, and aunt Linda Griego.

He is survived by his loving parents Steve and Nancy Romero, grandparents, Eppie Griego and Dina Martinez, spouse Marlene Romero, his loved children, Jaylene, Jayme, James Michael Romero Jr. “JJ”, and Jaden Romero, his 3 loving brothers, Steven Romero Jr, Aaron (Angel) Romero, and David Romero, 2 amazing nephews, Joaquin Romero and Lucas Rivera, 5 nieces, Esperanza, Natalia, and Mari Romero, Ari Montoya, and Lexi Rivera, uncles Merlan (Dolores) Romero, Eppie (RayAnn) Griego, Jerry (Yvette) Griego, aunts, Sarah Griego, Mary Martinez, Norma (Greg) Policiano, Mina Fernandez, Kathy Griego, Naomi (Ricardo) Yanez, Edith Medina, and Casilda (Nery) Estrada, plus many very loved cousins and many more loved friends.

A meal with friends and family to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Saturday February 21, 2026 at 1pm at the Bataan Hall located at 121 Civic Plaza Drive in Taos, NM.

The family of James Romero would like to thank each and every person who has reached out. It has been an expression of Jehovah’s care and fulfillment of his promise to “heal the brokenhearted” and “bind up their wounds.” (Psalms 147:3).
