Janet Lee Reeves Russell

A memorial service celebrating the life of Janet Lee Reeves Russell (89 years) will be held at 11:00am on April 11, 2026 at Village Church, Angel Fire, New Mexico with Pastor Kendall Sheats officiating. Janet passed into her new life with Jesus on April 5, 2026.

Janet was born on January 24, 1937 in Henderson, Texas to McCain Igo Reeves and Gilbert Lee Reeves. The family soon moved to Tyler where she grew up attending Gary Elementary, Hogg Junior High, and a proud 1955 graduate of Tyler High School. She attended the University of Texas in Austin majoring in Piano Pedagogy and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Janet grew up in First Presbyterian Church in Tyler and later was an active member of Emerald Bay Community Church and choir. She was an active member of the Junior League of Tyler, the Marion Wilcox Junior Garden Club, Pi Beta Phi Alumni, Emerald Bay Ladies Golf Association, a member Emeritus of East Texas Music Teacher’s Association, and Tyler Rose Festival. At the time of her death Janet was an active volunteer at Angel’s Attic, Eagle Nest, New Mexico.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, David W. Russell, her parents Mr. & Mrs. Gilbert L Reeves, brother Gilbert Lee Reeves, Jr., and grandson Russell Lee Danielson.

She is survived by her children, Leah Russell Hickerson and husband Lance, Frances Russell Lewis and her husband David, two grand children, Russell Lee Danielson (deceased) and Dru Frances Sanders and husband Chase, four great grand children, Kate, Ceci, Samantha, and Flynn Sanders.

Janet will be remembered for her lively spirit, sense of humor, and her loyal commitment to family and friends.
