Joe “JoJo” William Sanchez a resident of Los Cordovas, passed away on June 28, 2026.

Joe is survived by his amazing and beautiful wife of 35 years Patricia LOL, his loving children Joey Estrada and Zylina Rojas. Also survived by his stepchildren Lawrence Duran (Sunshine) and Shantell Rodriguez. He has 8 beautiful grandchildren, Brandon Estrada (Mary), Esperanza Rojas (Ethan), Leo Trujillo (Cosette), Cory Trujillo, Alauralee Rivera (Carlos), Andrew Duran (Sadie), Kathleen Duran-Rios (Joseph), Nathaniel Romero, Savion Romero and Jesse Soto.

Preceded in death by two beloved granddaughters Brittani Nicole Baca (Estrada) and Daelund Lila (Daisy) Rodriguez. Joe has 13 amazing great-grandchildren – Armanii Rodriguez, Shawn Trujillo, Davian and Gianna Trujillo, Alanah and Arloh Trujillo, Eli, James, Julian, Vincent, Zander, Neveah and Brooke Duran. Also survived by brother Arthur Lucero, niece Kristen Lucero-Wurzer (Travis) and nephew Dustin Burkhardt (Laurie). I also would like to mention that Joe has one living aunt “Tia Mae” and his numerous cousins on his side of the family and on Patricia’s side of the family. Joe also had his adopted family in Taos, Delilah Romero and her wonderful family who have been so amazing to us. Who have taken care of us and treated us like family. They have truly been there for us. As you can see Joe was surrounded by love whether the grump wanted it or not.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother Rosarita Murrieta, and beloved brothers Jerry Sanchez and Porfirio (Perry) Murrieta.

Joe was such a dedicated man to his wife, his children, and his entire family. He worked hard all his life. Worked 32 years at Coors until they made him retire.

Joe loved his home here in Taos and so we will be burying him at the Los Alamitos Cemetery in Los Cordovas, the date will be determined. We will also have a Celebration of Life for Joe in Denver sometime at the end of July or first week of August.

We all know Joe was a grump, had no filter, but he was constant and would help anyone no matter what. His humor was dry but if you ever had the chance to make his laugh, well he would faint. It was funny and scary at the same time.

My beloved husband will be so missed. This place is very different and quiet without him. We all love you Joe.

The family of Joe “JoJo” William Sanchez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the caring staff of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. www.devargastaos.com 1-866-657-4019
