John Franklin Lovato, 72 of Chamisal, NM went to be with our dear Lord the morning of July 19, 2024 after a courageous battle with heart disease. Beloved husband, father, grandpo “P”, and great-grandpo “P”, who will be missed dearly. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Diego and Matilde Lovato; father and mother-in-law, Juan E. and Lupita Gonzales; siblings, baby Mary Lovato, Jessie Lovato, Felicita Romero, Diana Quintana, Allen Lovato, Mary Mondragon, Diego Lovato, Jr. and Elizaida Arguello; brother-in-law, Benjamin Gonzales; and grandson, Francisco Cordova, Jr. 

John’s infectious laugh and sense of humor brought joy to everyone who knew him. He had a gift for making others smile and loved sharing jokes. His greatest happiness came from being surrounded by family and friends, whether it was during their many adventures, working on projects around the house, or simply enjoying each other’s company. John cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, sharing his love of fishing, camping and traveling. He especially treasured cruising with his beloved wife Bertha, exploring new places and creating cherished memories together. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide his loved ones. 

He is survived by the love of his life of 54 years, Bertha Lovato; daughters Marie Pacheco (Leroy) and Amyann Cordova (Francisco); grandchildren of whom he was so proud of, Johnpaul Lovato (Sophia), Antonio Cordova (Angie), Clarisa Weinzetl (Samson), Jonathon Cordova (Stephanie); 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Elsie Rodarte (Oliver), Virginia Herrera, Mabel Rios, Donald Lovato (Diana), Uvaldo Lovato, Gloria Visarraga (William), Naomi Gurule (Timmy); also surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law who treated him like their own brother, Andy Gonzales (Joan), Bobby Gonzales (Rebecca), Charlene Hualde, Elaine Lovato (Joseph), Dora Perea (Lee), Frank Gonzales, Patricia Martinez (Marty) and many nieces and nephews which he loved dearly. 

Rosary will be recited on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 11am followed by the Funeral Mass at 12pm at San Antonio De Padua Catholic Church in Penasco, with burial to follow at the Lower Chamisal Cemetery.
