Jose Benito Trujillo age 77, a resident of Holman, NM, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his father Isidro Trujillo and mother Isabel Trujillo; sisters Fabiola Fletcher and Erlinda Bailon; brothers Phil and Dan.
Jose was a crew leader for wildland firefighters for many years and later retired as a truant officer from the Mora Independent Schools District. He served 2 years in the United States Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran.
He is survived by his wife Jenny Trujillo; sons Sidney Trujillo (Gwen) and Gary T. Trujillo (Susan); grandchildren, Kayla (Mario), Savanna Trujillo, Destiny Trujillo (Russell), Darrin Trujillo and Nikki Trujillo; great-grandchildren, Ava Herrera and Eli Herrera; nieces Emily Cassidy, Denise Trujillo and Sherry Maes Serna; siblings Alfredo Trujillo (Christine), Roy Trujillo (Jody), Shirley Mojica (George), Edward Trujillo, Mary Ann Trujillo (Santiago), Nelson Trujillo and Celia Baca (Alonzo); brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim Fletcher, Julia Martinez (Thomas), Johnny Maes (Betty), Benito Maes (Arlene), Michael Maes, Joaquin Maes, and Mike Bailon; special friends Hopper, Alex “Queso” Medina, Noah Simpson and Santiago Olivas (Christina); and many relatives and friends.
Public Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 from 4pm to 5pm in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos.
Rosary will be recited on Monday, November 10, 2025 at 10:00am in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. Burial will follow at 1:00pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
