Jose F. Montoya

Jose F. Montoya, 97, passed away February 18, 2026, at his home in Cañon, surrounded by his family.

He is preceded in death by his wife Berlin Montoya; his parents Jesus and Maria Montoya; five sisters, Adela McCabe, Betty Briley, Maggie Rollins, Epimenia Martinez, Consuelo Duran and one brother Edwardo Montoya.

Jose is survived by his sister Jesucita Prando; his companion Martha Gonzales of 30 years; children Anita Angel, Debbie Montoya, Mark Montoya and Michael Montoya; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.

In his early years, Jose served in the U.S. Army in which he retired from, later he was employed at Safeway, where he worked for 30 years and also retired from. He took pride in his handy work, building and remodeling homes.

Burial will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 1:30pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors.
