Jose L. Mondragon age 54, a resident of Cañon, passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents Steve and Lydia Mondragon; sister-in-law April Mondragon.

Jose was born on March 30, 1966, he was the second eldest of six children.  He loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed going for wood.  He was always willing to help others.  Jose made a name for himself at a very young age, known throughout the State of New Mexico as a Golden Gloves Champion Boxer for the Taos Boxing Club.  He will be greatly missed by family and many friends.

Jose is survived by his siblings Steve Mondragon, Sharon Quintana (Chents), Theresa Mondragon (Billy), Paul Mondragon and Victor Mondragon; special cousins who he considered his brother and sister Leroy Chacon and Tania Mondragon; 8 nieces and nephews Shawn Archuleta, Ariana Quintana, Nathaniel Quintana, Billy Romero, Robert Romero, Joshua Romero, Steven Mondragon and Toby Mondragon, all which he adored, and Andy Chavez who was a large part of his life.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday March 17, 2021 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Due to COVID 19 restrictions, seating will be limited.  Burial will follow at Los Dolores Cemetery in Canon.
