Jose Patricio “Pat” Suazo age 87, a resident of El Prado, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 3, 2020.
He was preceded in death by children Peggy Sue Suazo and Bridgette Suazo; first wife Genevieve Cordova Suazo; parents Max Sr. and Bersabe Suazo; siblings Arturo Suazo, Max Suazo Jr., Charlie Suazo, Hannah Baca (Fred), Eutilia Chavez (Felix), Elenor Suazo and grandchild Christopher Patrick Trujillo Suazo.
Pat was a sheep herder in his younger years in Wyoming. Soon after, he became a Police Officer with the Taos Police Department and also served as an Animal Control Officer. When time allowed, he was a bartender at many local establishments. After many years of serving his community, he retired from the Taos County Detox Center, where he was a counselor. Pat loved spending time in the mountains rock hunting, as he loved to collect special shaped rocks and visiting the casinos. He was a great cook and often prepared one of his favorite dishes, beans, chile and tortillas.
Pat is survived by his wife of 43 years Rosie Valencia Suazo; children Christopher Anthony Suazo (Cindy), Josh Suazo (Carmella), Jerome Suazo, Fatima Chavez (Herb), Bertha Valerio (Derek); grandchildren Reyes Suazo, Genevieve Valerio (Sean), Arriana Chavez (Sammy), Michael Suazo (Jocelyn), Derek J. Valerio, Krista Chavez, Aaron Valerio (Raquelle), Alyssa Chavez (Quinn), Jude Suazo; great-grandchildren Amberlee, Miguel and Zander Suazo. Parents-in-law Leo and Crucita Valencia; sisters-in-law Gloria Valencia (Virgil), Carmen Rascon, Laura Lovato, Mary Ellen Sanchez, Thelma Suazo, Lupita Suazo and Lorraine Suazo; brothers-in-law Leo Valencia Jr. (Kristi); Sam Valencia (Cathy), William Cordova (Lorraine) and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, godchildren, and friends.
Private services will be held with burial to follow at the Pilar Cemetery. A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
