Joseph Isaac Maestas, born February 20, 1992, was a lifetime resident of Ranchos de Taos. He suddenly passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his father Manuel Martin Maestas, Jr; grandfather’s Tony Romo and Wilbert Vigil; and great-grandfather Joe Alex Maestas, Sr.
Joseph is survived by his great-grandmother Josie Maestas; grandmother Elma Vigil; mother-in-law Mary Jo Romero (John); his loving wife and high school sweetheart Marissa Romero Maestas; his three sons, Leo, Nathanael and Miklo Maestas; siblings Vanessa Maestas (Francisco), Megan Sandoval (Ashley), Joshua Sandoval and Matthew Maestas; nephews Manuel and Elija Castillo, and Ezeden Maestas; very close cousin who was like a brother, Conner Romo; and many more uncles, aunts and cousins.
Joe was very well known for his great smile and joking with people and sharing his humbleness and wonderful spirit in helping anyone. Joe was along time employee at CID’s Food Market in Taos for over 10 years. He was a very dedicated employee and helpful to everyone in the workplace. He adored his wife and sons, always made sure that they had what they needed. Joe always had fun to the fullest, with his family and close friends daily. Joe loved fast bikes and cars, he just loved the power behind them and the adrenaline he got racing them. What an awesome man, wonderful husband, father and friend Joe was to many.
Up-coming event will be held in memory of Joe Maestas, CID’S will be having a Burger Stand on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at CIDS’s Food Market. This is to help raise money for his wife and sons, also donations are being accepted inside CID’s.
Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 9:00am, Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:00am, held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic church, interment will follow at the Talpa Cemetery. After the burial, a meal will be served at 1:30pm at St. Joseph’s Hall.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are, Conner Romo, Anthony Trujillo, Angel Medina, Joshua Sandoval, Joshua Casados, Pancho (Francisco) Castillo, Douglas Crumley, Terrance Vigil, Benito Vigil, Sr and Benito (Ben) Vigil, Jr; Honorary pallbearers are, Leo, Nathanael, Manuel and Elijah.
