Juan C. Archuleta, 89, Resident of Talpa, New Mexico, passed away on October 13, 2025. Born to Ricardo Archuleta and Alicia Gallegos on October 1, 1936 and they preceded him in death.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Ruby E. Vigil-Archuleta and his sons, Manuel and Johnny and his grandson Andrew Segura, great-granddaughter baby Angel Gabriella Lopez; and son-in-law Daniel Medina, also preceded in death his brothers, Clarence, Patricio, Fred, Wallace and Richard, sisters-in-law Doris Archuleta, Arlene Archuleta, Carol Moreno, and Ruby Archuleta, in-laws Cesario and Ales Vigil, sister-in-law Dorothy Gutierrez, brothers-in-law Bobby Vigil, Rudy, Cesario Jr. Vigil, and sisters-in-law DeeDee Vigil, Anita Vigil and many more relatives.
He is survived by his brother Pablo Archuleta (Judy), sister Bernice Romero (Delfi); in-laws Danny Vigil (Shirley) and Joan Vigil (Clarence); his children David Archuleta & Pam, Patsy Segura & Ron, Brenda Medina & Francis and Adam Archuleta, grandchildren Manuel Archuleta & Mandy, Angelica Archuleta & Gilbert Lopez, Aaron Segura, Adrian Segura, Moises Medina, Danielle Medina & Justin McIlrath, and Noah Medina & Tayler, great grandchildren Jasmine Archuleta-Lopez & Brandon Martinez, Isabel Archuleta, Leah Lopez, Kayden McIlrath, and Maddix McIlrath, godchildren Pat Archuleta, Matthew Gutierrez, Paul Vigil, Lawrence Vigil, and Rosanne Gallegos; and sisters-in-law Pauline Archuleta, Yolanda Pacheco, Irene Archuleta; and many more relatives.
He had many interests in life, one of his passions was to help his sons and grandsons with their sports activities. He coached many of their teams and won several championships and trophies to his credit. He loved dancing and singing Comanches from a very young age. He dabbled in state and community politics where he lived for the betterment of the community. His work history included working in mines and in sawmills. He worked with the Taos County Road department as a heavy equipment operator and was a foreman until he retired. He was a hunter and fisherman and loved to be in the mountains.
Rosary will be recited on Thursday October 23, 2025 at 6pm at St. Francis De Asis Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday October 24, 2025 at 3pm at St. Francis De Asis Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Talpa Cemetery.
