It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful and beloved Kimber A. Garcia, who passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2026, at the age of 36.
Born on January 24, 1990, in Taos, New Mexico, Kimber graduated from Taos High School before continuing her education at the University of New Mexico, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 2015.
If you knew Kimber, you knew her laugh before you knew her name. She had a voice you could pick out of a crowded room, a wit sharp enough to catch you off guard, and a habit of leaving a lipstick kiss on your cheek that somehow always felt like a hug.
Kimber had a gift for capturing life’s most meaningful moments through photography. She loved spending time outdoors—camping, fishing, snowboarding, river trips, and long drives through the mountains. She found joy in music, whether it was blasting through the speakers on a drive or filling a room with family and friends gathered together.
She loved making homemade sushi, fresh-squeezed lemonade, and creating memories that brought people together. She never missed a child’s birthday party without bringing her beloved bubble machine, filling the air with laughter and smiles. Kimber also loved a good debate, no matter the topic, and during football season she delighted in cheering for whichever team was playing against the one her family supported—especially when it meant teasing her sister Ashley about the Raiders.
Kimber is survived by her loving parents, Ernesto and Reakae Garcia; her beloved grandmother, Connie Anaya; her sisters, Ashley Herrera (Cuauhtemoc Herrera) and Monique Garcia (Jesus Mondragon) & Kimber’s Partner Santiago Martinez, whom she loved dearly; and his sons, Carlos and Michael Martinez, whom she loved and regarded as her own.
She is also survived by her cherished nieces and nephews, Jazmine Mondragon, Aliyah Herrera (Adrian )Alyssa Herrera (Michael)Citlamina Herrera, Emilio Herrera, and Isaiah Garcia, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were forever touched by her love.
More than anything, Kimber loved her family. She showed up for the people she loved without hesitation. She was the friend who made strangers feel welcome, the aunt who loved like a second mother, and the person everyone knew they could count on. Her kindness, fierce loyalty, and generous heart left an unforgettable mark on everyone blessed enough to know her.
Kimber had a rare gift for making family out of everyone she met. Friends became Sisters & Brothers and No matter who you were, Kimber had a way of making you feel like you belonged.
Kimber’s memory will live on in every photograph she took, every sunset over the New Mexico sky, every lipstick-stained cheek, every child’s laughter carried by bubbles floating through the air, and in every person fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
Though her time with us was far too short, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her laughter will echo in our memories, her kindness will remain in our hearts, and her beautiful spirit will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
Service arrangements are pending and will be posted as soon as they become available.
