Lawrence Martinez

Lawrence Martinez age 72, a resident of Taos, passed away unexpectedly September 18, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his father Norberto Martinez.

Lawrence was an educator for the Taos Municipal Schools, where he retired from. He loved to play the guitar and sing Spanish songs with his family. Lawrence liked working outdoors with home plastering jobs, many out of mud, and making hornos that families use for cooking. He also enjoyed fishing and camping. Lawrence treasured the moments he spent with his grandkids. He will be dearly missed. 

Lawrence is survived by his spouse Marcia Martinez; children Sonya Martinez James (Terry), Lorenzo Martinez (Camille) and Tonantzin Martinez; grandchildren Zackary James, Aryana James, Mia Martinez, Lorenzo Martinez, Analeyah Lee and Giahnyce Lee; his mother Esther Martinez; siblings Juan Martinez (Diana), Amalia Martinez (Andy), Debra Gonzales (Robert), Claudette Lucero (†Wilfred), Nanette Barela (Louie B), Charlene Martinez, Sandra Sanchez (Nathan), Marcos Martinez, Norberto Martinez (Julie), Renee Martinez, and Yvette Aguilar (Manuel), plus many other loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Rosary will be recited on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 6pm in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home in Taos.  Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 10:00am in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos, burial will follow at the Las Cruces Cemetery.
