Leonides J. "Niny" Martinez

Leonides J. “Niny’’ Martinez 84, of Taos, NM passed away peacefully on July 14th, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 14, 1942 in Taos NM.

He is survived by his wife Frances Martinez of 53 years, and their children, Steven Martinez (Anna), Sally Blair (Lance), Wayne Chavez, Aram Montoya, Libby Lyon and Melissa Ickes. 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his sons, Edward Martinez, Daniel Martinez, Raymond Chavez and Ray Ray Martinez, parent Maudrillo and Alicia Martinez, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

He spent most of his life as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a United States Marine and proudly served during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lawrence Fernandez, Peter Chavez, Leonard Trujillo, Rick Chavez, Rick Medina and Manny Vigil. Honorary pallbearers, Marisa Martinez, Addison Vigil, Layla Vigil, Milany and Evony Alford, Allyn Sanchez and Carla Mossman.
