Lyle E. Beers

Lyle Edgar Beers, age 76, of Taos, New Mexico, passed away on December 3, 2022, at his home after a brief illness.

Lyle was born in Lawrence, Kansas, on September 20, 1946, to Henry and Eunice. After graduating from Lawrence High School in 1964, Lyle married his high school sweetheart, Susan Elizabeth Allen. They enjoyed a long, happy marriage of forty-six years, until Sue’s passing on January 25, 2012. Lyle and Sue shared four children. Lyle spent his career with the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company until his retirement in 2002. During retirement, he and Sue traveled together across the US, and loved spending time with their six grandchildren.

Lyle met Pat Kyser in 2012. Lyle and Pat moved to Taos together, to begin an adventure of their own. As committed partners, they traveled the world, going to Germany and Paris, France. They particularly enjoyed exploring hot springs, beaches, and mountains together. They most enjoyed their home in Taos with warm fires, live music, and dear friends. While in Taos, Lyle took a job at a hardware store, where he spent time chatting with customers and assembling grills. He completed a course to become a master gardener and enjoyed gardening at home. Lyle was an athlete his entire life, running cross country, playing softball, water skiing, and in his final years became an avid golfer. He also loved to follow Chiefs football and KU basketball.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carol, and wife Susan. He is survived by his siblings Wanda, Janet, Leroy, Susie, and LeaAnna; children Amy, Angela, Timothy, and Jennifer; grandchildren Allison, Dylan, Sydney, Jake, Claire, and Zachary; and by his dear friend Larry Puckett.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on May 7, 2023, at Clinton Lake in Lawrence, Kansas. Lyle will be laid to rest at Clinton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Taos Pueblo Foundation (https://taospueblo.com/taos-pueblo-foundation).
