Mable Martinez

Mable Martinez, a lifelong resident of Taos, NM passed away on August 12, 2025.

She was born May 28, 1946 to Lydio & Amadita Gomez.

Mable was preceded in death by her parents Lydio and Amadita; husband Mario Martinez; son Mario Martinez, Jr; daughter-in-law Crystal Martinez; sisters Mary Romero and Lorraine Romo; and in-laws Juan & Carolina Martinez.

She was employed by Taos Municipal Schools, at Taos Jr. High as a math tutor until her untimely illness in 1982. For over 43 years she embraced her circumstances always with a loving smile, a “how are you” all while never letting go of her unwavering faith in God.

Mable is survived by her daughter Debbie Chavez (Victor); granddaughters Roseann, Melissa, Victoria, Angelica; her loving caretakers, Clorinda Gonzales and Lorraine Garcia;  numerous grandchildren; many close family, friends, and loved ones along with a legacy of joy and happiness to all who were privileged to know her.

May her grand faith in God be a lasting testimony to us all.

Rosary will be recited on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 9:00am, Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00am held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Taos, NM.
