Manuel Antonio Maestas

Manuel Antonio Maestas age 73, of Talpa, NM passed away on January 27, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on March 13, 1952.

Manuel is preceded in death by his wife Cecilia Maestas; parents, Andres and Eloisa Maestas; brothers, Alex, Ralph, Manuel Jr, Ubaldo, and Landy Maestas; his sisters Guillerma Romero, Ester Santistevan and Corine Valdez; sisters-in-law Priscilla, Dorothy, and Linda Maestas; brothers-in-law Joe Romero, Antonio Lopez and Roy Santistevan.

He is survived by his daughters Sharon Gonzales (Sammy), Lora Maestas (Randall), and Victoria Montoya (Anthony); grandchildren Patrick and Derrick Gonzales, Brianna and Marisol Gorman, Katelyn and Jayden Montoya; great-grandchildren Bryan and Alyssa Gonzales who all referred to him as Grandpo Tractor; sisters Tammie and Bernie Maestas, brother Tacho Maestas (Kathy); brother-in-law Eugene Valdez; sister-in-law Josie Maestas; God children Gabriel Gonzales, Francisco Pacheco, Ritchie Walker, Sammy Gonzales, Tiffany Maestas, Randall Gorman and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Manuel served in the Army and the National Guard. He worked at Friday Motors and later formed his company Maestas Body Shop and then worked at Silva’s Excavation.

Manuel had a passion for cars and trucks from building them, to fixing them, restoring them and boy did he love talking about them. He also loved farming, camping, and getting together for family gatherings.

Manuel was a loving dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. He leaves behind many memories and will be greatly missed.

Rosary will be recited on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 9:00am, Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00am, held at San Francisco de Asís Catholic church, burial will follow at the Talpa Cemetery.
