Manuel Leyba

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Manuel ‘Manny’ Leyba on Saturday June 1^st, 2024 at his son’s home at Taos Pueblo. Manuel was 83 years of age.

Manuel was born on October 4^th 1940 in Canjilon, New Mexico to the late Fernando and Frutosa Leyba. He was preceded in death by brothers Florencio, Greg, and Marshall Leyba, and sister Clara Arrellano. He is survived by his brother George.

Manuel had two sons- Mark and Derek, wives Dyanne and Bernice, granddaughter Taylor and grandson Joshua Leyba. He also spent many happy years with his long-time partner Joni Meyer-Pacheco, her children- DeAnne, Damian, Stephanie and Janine, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.

Manuel was a gifted lifelong guitar musician and was affectionately known as ‘The Wander Boy’. He loved music and to play for others, instilling that love for music and musicianship in both of his sons. He played with many well-known musicians throughout the years.

Manuel loved his family, many friends, and being around others- always with a smile.

He will remain lovingly in our hearts forever and always.
