Maria "Molly" Amalia Pacheco

Maria “Molly” Amalia Pacheco went home peacefully to be with Jesus at the age of 93 on June 6, 2025. Maria Amalia was born on April 5, 1932, to Manuel and Eutilia Torres. She grew up in Llano Quemado and Taos, NM. Her father was a sheepherder and a farmer who owned orchards of fruit trees which are attributed to her work ethic and hard work. Molly, as everyone knew her, was a devoted Christian who loved God, her family and anyone who came to be part of her life. She was kindhearted, thoughtful and loving. She served in the Women’s Auxiliary VFW and for many years worked in the Taos Municipal Schools Cafeteria, Kentucky Fried Chicken and other jobs.

Molly leaves a proud and lasting God legacy behind. She loved and served God at church, her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Juan Felimon Pacheco; a daughter Emily Pacheco; her parents; mother-in-law Emila Pacheco; as well as several siblings, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Molly is survived by her seven children and their spouses, Gilbert Pacheco (Dolores), Tomascita Pacheco, Josephine Jaramillo (Joseph), Nancy Newton (Phillip), Esther Almaguer (Raymond), Casandra Martinez (Samuel), and Leo Pacheco (Berna); four sisters and one brother; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Special thanks and gratitude to our sister, Casandra Martinez who spent these last months of mom’s life taking care of her and her needs. We are forever grateful! We also want to extend our gratitude to Jesus Martinez, from Super Save Food Store for his generosity.

Molly will be gravely missed by all who shared her joy of life, her commitment to serving Christ and others. Mom, we all look forward to a great reunion with you in heaven.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 24, 2025 at 10am in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos, with burial to follow at 1:30pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
