Mary Ruth Martinez

Mary Ruth Martinez, 82, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Rinconada, NM. on July 6, 2026. Mary Ruth was born September 30, 1943 to Andres and Senaida Torres of Llano Quemado.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carlos Ernesto Martinez, sisters Anita Torres, Odilla Chavez, Trinidad (Adonias) Romero, Pricilla (Manuel) Martinez, brothers, Tony (Frances) Torres, Paul (Tita) Torres, Damian (Connie) Torres, nephew who she considered a son Jose Jimmy Torres, great nephew Jamie Torres, in-laws Manuel (Beatrice) Martinez, Alberto Gonzales, Clorinda (Jim) Elmore, Rose (Jose) Sandoval, Rosina (Larry) McDowell, Guadalupe Martinez and Cornelio Martinez.

She is survived by her children, Billy, Juan, Dorothy, and Shirley Martinez, and granddaughter Brianna Lucero (Honovi). Her sister Adelia Gonzales and brother Ernest (Flora) Torres, and in-law Juan Chavez; plus, many more relatives and friends. 

Mary Ruth enjoyed crafting by crocheting, making blankets and doing embroidering. She loved the outdoors gardening, picking pinon, and going to the mountains for wood with the whole family. She also enjoyed cooking for her family. She couldn’t be much happier when she heard the news that she was going to be a grandmother. She spoiled her granddaughter Brianna so much. She will be missed.

Rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 9:15am, Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am, held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Dixon, NM.  Burial will follow at the Pilar Cemetery.
