Natalie Montoya

Natalie Montoya age 83, a resident of El Prado, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024. Two months prior, she was diagnosed with acute leukemia.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Leroy Montoya; grandchildren   Elizaria “Pebbles” Loya Chavez and Gabriel Voigt; son-in-law Robert Martinez; parents Ernesto & Laura Montoya of Cañon; in-laws Claudio & Frances Montoya of El Prado; siblings Zovaida, Robert, Joseph (Annabelle) and Anita (Ruben) who she missed dearly. 

Natalie is survived by her loving daughters Theresa Sanchez (Donald) and Francine Martinez; grandchildren Desire Templeton (Chris), Casandra Martinez (David), Layla Martinez, Star Pacheco (Hector), Lenny Chavez, Hector Jr, Ricky and Eric Pacheco; great-grandchildren Alexi, Haylee, Mia, Tiffany, Addie, Athena; siblings Pauline Ambrose, Ruben Montoya (Roseanne); in-laws Raymond Montoya (Linda), Mary Alice Sandoval (Ramon), Johnny Roybal; godchildren Amy Montoya, Vidal Montoya and Montes Trujillo, plus many more nieces, nephews and friends. 

Natalie worked for 20 years at Holy Cross Hospital in the labor and delivery department, helping to deliver many Taoseños and in the surgery department.  Thereafter, she was employed for 10 years with the Taos Municipal Schools as a food service cook. She enjoyed hosting parties for her family, she welcomed everyone into her home.  Natalie was a believer in her Lord, enjoyed camping, boating, vacations with family and friends, listening to oldie music and her dog Saturn.  She loved to talk on the phone with her friends Edna Gonzales, Mabel Valerio, Rita de La Cruz and Valerie Chavez. 

We have lost our Queen, rest in peace with our Lord.  A thank you is extended to the staff at Mountain Home Health and DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. 

Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 2pm to 3pm in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos, burial will follow at the Dolores Cemetery in El Prado.
