Phillip Michael Babby Sr. passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 from complications due to Covid-19. He was 71. Phil was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, as well as a great friend to all he came across. The world has lost a generous, kind, and loving man. Phil was born July 24, 1949, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he was raised by his parents, Esther and Louis Babby. Phil had a love of photography, camping, fishing, boating and anything outdoors. Through his hobbies and his outgoing nature he made friends everywhere he went. Whether out to dinner or on a family vacation across the country, his family often joked and were never surprised by his ability to run into people who knew him at every turn. More than outgoing, Phil was always the first to lend a helping hand when someone was in need. Whether it was a family member, co-worker, friend, or someone he barely knew, Phil was generous with his time and always available to help. Most of all, Phil loved his family fiercely. He beamed with pride at the mere mention of his wife or children. He was quick to share his feelings and never stingy on saying I love you. Over the years, Phil’s career took him to live in many places around the country. However, for the past 11 years he called New Mexico home. A romanticizer of the old and unplundered west, he truly did find the place where his heart felt like it most belonged - among the community and friends he loved so much in these enchanted mountains. Phil is survived by his wife, Chairel Babby, his children, Craig Rucks, Trista Rucks, Michael Babby, Mathew Babby and Phillip Babby Jr and two grandchildren. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to help offset medical expenses can be made through the following link: gf.me/u/zh7but. The family of Phil Babby has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. www.devargastaos.com 1-866-657-4019
