In loving memory of Richard Erwin Shelton.

Richard Erwin Shelton, age 84, of Taos, NM, passed away peacefully on June 21. A great father, grandfather, and friend, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family.

Born on 10/31/1940 in Asheville, NC, Richard was known for his happy-go-lucky attitude, caring for others, and his generous heart. He spent his life dedicated to his books and acquiring knowledge. He also loved his career as an airline pilot, preceded by his years in the Navy where he flew the last of the naval seaplanes.

He is survived by his two sons, Zachary and Ian; his granddaughter Kira; and his former spouse and mother of his children, Malinda. He was preceded in death by his parents Alva and Ralph Shelton.

Richard will be remembered most for his kindness towards others. His quiet wisdom, warm presence, and unconditional love touched the lives of all who knew him.

Due to the scattered locations of friends and family, a funeral service will not occur however, a private ceremony will be performed by his sons with the ashes as requested by Richard.

Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
