Robert E. Montoya

Robert E. Montoya age 88, a resident of Taos, NM passed away June 22, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his wife Flora Montoya; daughter Lorraine Montoya; parents Atilano and Angela Montoya; brother Ben Montoya; granddaughter Celeste Montoya; and great-granddaughter Jazimine Martinez-Trujillo.

Robert was a public servant within the community. He was an officer with the Taos Police Department for several years, later became a member of the Hondo Seco Fire Department, and was also Fire Marshall. Additionally, Robert was employed by Taos Mountain View Abstract for a number of years, until his retirement.

He is survived by his daughter Roberta; grandchildren Ashley Martinez, Andrew Fresquez and Iesha Hartt; great-grandchildren Maricela Sanchez, Infiniti Martinez, Santiago, Isaiah, Andrew III, Zavier and Amaya Fresquez; great-granddaughter Florinda Sanchez; siblings Augustine Montoya, Delayne Perry (Rodney), Viola Macias (Larry), and Dandy Sandoval; plus many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic church, with burial to follow at the Dolores Cemetery.
