Ruben E. Baca, age 90 a life-long resident of Llano Quemado passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025.
Preceded in Death by his Wife of 64 years, Frances Baca; Parents Jacobo and Cora Baca; Sister Aurora Coca and her husband Baldamar Coca and Sister Maggie Gutierrez.
Survived by Daughter Rebecca Mares and Son Ruben M. Baca (Laura); Grandchildren, Christina Mares Gallegos (Mark, his best friend), Stephanie Mares, Kelli Ann Baca, Kaitlyn Baca (Nick), Great-Grandchildren Brandon Montoya, Marika Gallegos, Namiyah Taylor, Jude and Izayah Peralta. Also surviving him are his Brother Max Baca (Alice) and Sister Corinna Espinoza.
He is also survived by Special Niece Lorrie Valerio (Raymond), whom he considered a 2nd daughter and many other nieces and nephews.
Ruben loved spending time outdoors whether it be on the back of a horse, in his workshop or on the porch with his beloved blue heeler, Paloma. Ruben retired from the Carson National Forest Service as a Contract Specialist in 1990 and was a founding member of the Taos County Sheriff’s Posse. He also served as a Deputy Livestock Inspector for the NM Livestock Board where he made many friendships throughout the years.
Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 9am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10am at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church, with burial to be held at the Angel Fire Veterans Cemetery on August 14, 2025 at 10:00am.
