Sammy Hammer

Sammy Hammer age 71, a resident of Cordillera, passed away unexpectedly October 4, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his wife Diana Hammer; son Julian Maestas; parents Samuel & Margie (Grant) Hammer; sisters Betty Trujillo (†Pacomio) and Ida Chavez (†Eugenio); brothers-in-law Julian, Johnny and Moises Maestas; sisters-in-law Porfie Montoya and Alice Valdez.

Sammy was employed by the Taos Municipal Schools.  He was an active member of the Ranchos Presbyterian Church.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his siblings Ruth Montoya (Joe) and Harvey Hammer; grandchildren Julian and Juliet Maestas; brother-in-law Orlando Maestas; sisters-in-law Lorraine Smith (Harry), Eva Valdez, Gloria Lopez, Olivia Gonzales, Jeanette Vigil, Cleo Coca (Johnny) and Mercy Quintana (Robert); plus many other loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 10:00am in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos.  Burial will follow at El Descanso Cemetery in Ranchos de Taos.
