James Martinez

James Andrew Martinez (Chico) age 45, a resident of Ranchos de Taos, passed away October 8, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his father Ernesto Martinez; brother-in-law Morris Martinez; fiancé Christina Olguin; grandparents Donaciano & Maria Gutierrez, Agnes Herrera, and Celestino Sanchez.

James was born in Leadville, CO and was raised in the Eagle County, eventually he moved to Ranchos de Taos.  He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, enjoyed cooking meals and was the biggest Denver Broncos fan.

He is survived by his son Marcus Hoffmeister-Martinez; mother Frances Martinez; siblings Eli Martinez, Bernice Del Toro (Oscar), Suzette Martinez, Maggie Sanchez (David), Roberta Martinez; godparents John and Dorothy Romero; godchildren Issiah Martinez, Angelo Trujillo and Shaeliegh Martinez; 24 nieces and nephews, 26 great-nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles Fred & Nancy Gutierrez, Lupe Struck, Bertha & Walter Smith; plus many other relatives from Wyoming and New Mexico.

Rosary will be recited on Saturday October 23, 2021 at 9:15am at San Francisco de Asís Catholic Church, followed by the funeral mass. Burial will follow at the Jesus Nazareno cemetery.
