Jose Wallace Epifano Salazar

March 24, 2022

Obituary

Jose Wallace Epifaño Salazar age 79, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2022.  He was a dedicated husband, father and grandpa.

He was preceded in death by his precious, beautiful daughter Jennifer Salazar; parents Levi and Irene Salazar; siblings Ismael, Ramon, Abel Salazar, Josephina “Fefa” Esquibel and Eloida Garcia.

He was better known and respected in the Taos community as “Wallace”.  Whatever he did, it was done with such commitment, skill and love!  His time was never wasted.  He would often say “Just do it” or “You’ll rest when you die”; and “It’s not the days in your life, it’s the life in your days”.  He never said goodbye, he would always say, see you later.  He enjoyed woodcarving Santos, playing guitar, singing his Spanish songs with friends and family, building homes, listening to the Spanish radio station 89.1,  fun poker game night with family, eating candy or chewing gum and spoiling his dogs Perlita and Cocoa Puff.

Wallace is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ursula “Lula”; his children Micayla Salazar, Waldy Salazar (Lynda), and Doreen Salazar (Mike Prieto); grandsons, Justin Trujillo, Sheldon and Lyndon Salazar, and Christopher Lopez; great-grandchildren Abrianna Medina, Joziah Martinez and Analia Trujillo; sister Teresa Gonzales and many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday April 8, 2022 at 10:00am at San Francisco de Asís Catholic Church in Ranchos de Taos, interment will follow at the Los Cordovas Cemetery.  His family would like to extend an invitation to share a meal with them at the Llano Quemado Community Center at noon following the burial.
