We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos
Mark "Med" Anthony Martinez was born on May 6, 1963 and passed away on June 7, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Adolpho and Frances Martinez, and Tranquillino and Juanita Vigil; parents Adolpho Jr. and Virginia Martinez; brothers Michael and Joseph; uncles Margarito and Benito Martinez, Tranquillino Vigil, Jr., Billy Velasquez and John Abeyta; aunts Isabel Abeyta, Viola Romero, Teresina Gordon, Diane Velasquez, Ruth Moya, Lucia Vigil, Margarita Martinez and Fidelina Vigil.
Mark is survived by his brothers Kenneth (Rosella), Philip, Francisco and David; sisters Rose Marie and Mary Grace; his aunts Carrie Martinez and Margaret Trujillo, plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mark attended St. Josephs school and graduated from Taos High, soon after he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was easy to please and also easy to anger. If you needed help with home repairs, you could count on him. He was a giver and compassionate with the needs of others. Mark was mothers’ caretaker for many years, placing his own needs and life on hold, because mom was his priority. He often postponed or ignored his health issues, in fear of leaving mom alone. Unfortunately, it was what lead to his demise. Mark leaves behind a great void, he will be greatly missed by those whose heart he touched and to those who called him brother, uncle, and friend.
Rosary will be recited on Saturday July 2, 2022 at 9:00am followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic church in Cañon. Burial will be held on Tuesday July 5, 2022 at 11:00am at the Angel Fire Veterans’ Cemetery.
